Ⅰ. Faculty

The Robotics Engineering program is supported by a well-structured faculty team of 17 full-time teachers, including 3 professors, 7 associate professors and 7 lecturers. Among them, one has been selected for the Third Tier of the Hubei New Century High-Level Talent Project, and one is a high-level overseas talent recruited under the Hubei Provincial Key Overseas Talent Recruitment Program. With interdisciplinary academic backgrounds, the faculty have long been engaged in teaching and research in robot structural design, intelligent control, machine vision, and industrial robots for oil and gas drilling and production, and have achieved fruitful results: one First Prize and four Second Prizes of the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, two Second Prizes of the Hubei Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and more than ten university-level awards for teaching and research achievements.

Ⅱ. Talent Cultivation

This program centers on the fundamental knowledge and technologies of robot structure, design and application. Bringing together mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering, control theory and control engineering, artificial intelligence, smart sensors, bionics and other disciplines, it is an emerging engineering program that cultivates talent for national industrial upgrading and technological innovation. Guided by the mission of serving China's oil and gas drilling and production equipment sector as well as the regional economy, the program closely integrates its teaching and research with the petroleum and petrochemical industry, and actively responds to the intelligent transformation needs of both the oil and gas equipment sector and local equipment manufacturing enterprises. It aims to produce application-oriented, high-level engineering and technical professionals who have a solid academic foundation, a broad knowledge base, and strong practical and innovative abilities, and it has gradually developed a distinctive robotics engineering application track with a pronounced petroleum and petrochemical industry background.

Degree courses: Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Fundamentals of Machine Design, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Electrical Control and PLC Technology, Engineering Materials and Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing, and Principles of Automatic Control.

Major practical teaching components: Mechanical Drawing Practicum, Engineering Training, Course Project in Fundamentals of Machine Design, Course Project in Artificial Intelligence, Comprehensive Practice in Robot Design, Industrial Internship, Comprehensive Practice in Microcontroller Applications, Simulation Practice in Robot Mechanisms, Robot Assembly and Disassembly Practice, Comprehensive Practice in Robotics Engineering, and Graduation Project.

The Robotics Engineering program is well equipped with practical teaching platforms. It implements a five-in-one collaborative education model that integrates government, industry, academia, research and application. Relying on on-campus specialized laboratories and off-campus enterprise training bases, the program provides all-round guidance for students' coursework, research training, discipline competitions, and innovation and entrepreneurship, realizing deep integration of teaching, research and industrial application. It has established three on-campus specialized laboratories, namely the Student Robot Innovation Laboratory, the Comprehensive Robotics Laboratory and the Robot Vision Laboratory, and has jointly built more than ten off-campus internship and training bases with Beijing Huahang Weishi Robot Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Saibaite Technology Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen DJI Sciences and Technologies Ltd.

III. Career Prospects and Pathways

The program is closely aligned with the national demand for intelligent manufacturing and the intelligent upgrading of oil and gas drilling and production equipment. Graduates are employed in the petroleum and petrochemical industry, oil and gas equipment enterprises, high-end equipment manufacturing, automation systems, and high-tech robotics enterprises, mainly engaged in robot system integration, structural design, control algorithm development, machine vision applications, equipment commissioning, operation and maintenance, production organization and management, technical marketing and sales, and related work. Graduates may also apply for postgraduate programs in mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, robotics engineering and other related disciplines, and pursue advanced study at domestic universities and research institutes. Drawing on the traditional disciplinary strengths of the School of Mechanical Engineering and sharing the high-quality alumni resources of Yangtze University, the program benefits from a large number of alumni active in petroleum equipment and intelligent manufacturing, who provide industry resources and support for students' internships, employment, and innovation and entrepreneurship. The industry demand for such talent remains strong, and career development prospects are broad.
