Disciplinary Positioning.Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics is one of the school's two first-level discipline master's degree programs. It focuses on the basic theories and engineering applications of energy conversion, thermal science, and fluid machinery, and forms a complementary and interdisciplinary relationship with the school's disciplinary layout featuring energy equipment.
Research Directions.Training directions are established in thermal engineering, fluid machinery and engineering, power machinery and engineering, chemical process machinery, petroleum thermal engineering, and others. On this basis, the research of relevant research groups also extends to frontier fields such as multiphase flow and enhanced heat transfer, medium-deep geothermal development, compressed air energy storage, solar thermal utilization, and CO₂ capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
Training Characteristics and Supporting Conditions.The degree program relies on platforms such as the university-level research institution "Geothermal Resources Development Research Institute" and the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Engineering, and has formed stable research accumulation in directions such as petroleum thermal engineering, optimal design of fluid machinery, and efficient energy utilization. Some supervisor teams have led national-level projects such as key projects of the National Key R&D Program and Excellent Young Scientists Fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, providing conditions for graduate students to participate in high-level scientific research.
